Alot of people don't like to use theory, they feel it confines them to a given set of rules to follow. Just curious to how many of you actively use and think of theory when playing or composing? Post your reply.

I always actively use theory when playing and writing.

its not so much that i don't like to use theory, its just when i started playing it was all by ear, I had friends that showed me patterns and scales but i never have applied them to when i play. course, I've still got tons to learn and perhaps one day i will utilize theory more.
